Why More Ottawa Buyers Are Discovering Greater Madawaska
Located roughly 90 minutes from Ottawa, Greater Madawaska has become a popular destination for buyers looking for waterfront living, recreational properties, and year round escapes without travelling hours from the city.
The area is home to more than 90 lakes and waterways, including Centennial Lake and Calabogie Lake, offering boating, fishing, paddling, and waterfront living throughout the summer months.
What attracts many Ottawa buyers is the four season lifestyle. In the warmer months, residents enjoy golf at The Highlands, hiking at Eagle's Nest Lookout, and access to hundreds of kilometres of ATV and trail networks. During the winter, Calabogie Peaks offers some of Ontario's highest skiable vertical terrain outside the major resort regions.
For investors, short term rentals continue to generate interest thanks to year round tourism. Visitors are drawn to Calabogie Peaks, Calabogie Motorsports Park, the K&P Trail, golf courses, lakes, beaches, and outdoor recreation that attracts guests well beyond the summer season.
The area also offers a value proposition that is becoming increasingly difficult to find closer to Ottawa. Waterfront properties, recreational homes, and year round residences can often be purchased for significantly less than comparable waterfront opportunities within Ottawa's city limits.

One of our favourite things about living in Ottawa is that Canada Day feels like a city wide celebration.
🎶 If you're planning to head downtown, LeBreton Flats will once again be the hub of the festivities, with live entertainment, family activities, food vendors, the Snowbirds, and fireworks over the Ottawa River. The National Noon Ceremony begins at 12 PM, followed by an evening concert featuring artists including Alessia Cara and Barenaked Ladies before the fireworks at 10 PM.
Not a fan of the crowds? Many Ottawa residents will be celebrating a little closer to home with neighbourhood gatherings, backyard BBQs, cottage weekends, and community events across the city.
